University of Cambridge’s IGCSE

International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) has been designed by Cambridge International Examinations, UK.

GIIS offers the Cambridge IGCSE programme from Classes 8 to 10. New students seeking admission to Class 8 or existing students promoted to Class 8 have an option of choosing either CBSE or IGCSE. Class 8 IGCSE is a foundation course and Classes 9 & 10 form the Cambridge IGCSE course leading to certification from Cambridge International Examinations on successful completion.

Students may opt for International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) on the successful completion of IGCSE. IGCSE and IBDP have identical subject combinations, which makes it easier for IGCSE students to gain entry into IBDP.

IGCSE provides a broad study programme by drawing subjects from five areas: Languages, Humanities and Social Sciences, Sciences, Mathematics, Creative, Technical and Vocational. A balanced mix of practical experience and theoretical knowledge is structured within the curriculum. With a choice of ‘Core’ and ‘Extended’ papers in most subjects, IGCSE is suitable for students with differing levels of ability.

IGCSE allows teaching and learning to be placed in a localised context, making it relevant the world over.
